The St. Philip the Deacon Neighborhood Listening Team will do a short Neighborhood Walking Meditation after church on January 30th. You are invited to participate. One of the members of the Neighborhood Listening Team will provide guidance before we walk. We will…
Annual Meeting Liturgy: January 23rd
Our Annual Meeting is woven into our Sunday Eucharist as a reminder that it is the work of every other day of the week that makes our work together on Sundays possible, and it is our work on Sunday to celebrate in gratitude and hope the many ways in which God works through us as individuals and as a community.
January Housing Update: P-BOS, 130 NE Knott, and Kafoury Court Funding
The Alcena and P-BOS Funding In the wake of learning that we did not receive the M-BOS last fall, we were invited by the Portland Housing Bureau (PHB) to re-apply for the same bucket of money, the ‘P-BOS’. In December, the P-BOS submission was completed. It was based on the M-BOS submission which was not accepted, but which received specific recommendations from PHB for a second submission. The total amount requested is $11,250,000. Salazar Architects was brought on as an…

To kick off Dr. MLK Jr. Day weekend, community members are gathering Friday afternoon at 3:15 p.m. to celebrate Dr. MLK Jr Elementary School with a student parade, food (to-go), live art project, and a loud, clear call to PPS: “Invest in our schools, don’t shut us down.”
Omicron and N95/KN95 Masks
Due to the high transmissibility of Omicron, we are asking all participants to wear an N95 or KN95 mask during Sunday liturgy. These masks are significantly more protective than cloth masks, and will allow us to more safely pray and sing together. You may bring your own N95 or KN95 mask, but it may not have ventilation holes. Please note that the popular blue surgical masks do not qualify as N95 or KN95 masks. If you do not have an…

First Sunday of Advent at St. Philip
At St. Philip, we reflect an awareness that going deeper into God is about responding to God’s work and play in our lives and the world around us now. A deep and authentic spiritual life is rooted in responding with God and God’s prophets to this place, to this time, to this neighborhood, in this body (and bodies). Come, join us, as we continue to hear the stories of God told to children and elders alike. Wonder with us. Journey with us.
