July 14 Guest Preacher: A-Too Williams, Dean of the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity in Monrovia, Liberia

This Sunday, July 14, we welcome Canon A-Too Williams, the Dean of the Cathedral in Liberia’s capital, Monrovia. He was part of The Michael B. Curry Distinguisher Preacher Series at Trinity Cathedral. He is also a visiting Portland as a guest of Grace Memorial to launch a $15k Borehole Well Project that will supply safe water to the cathedral and school in Liberia.

About the preacher: The Rev’d Canon A-Too Williams was born in Harbel, Liberia. He attended African Bible College in Liberia and Malawi, earning a BA in Biblical Studies and a minor in Radio Broadcasting before continuing his theological education at the Seth C. Edwards Memorial Theological Institute. He was ordained in 1999, served in a many roles within The Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Church of Liberia, and was named Canon of the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity in 2013.

Beyond the church, Reverend Williams served on the Board of Directors of the Great Commission Movement, as Chaplain of the Liberia Opportunities Industrialization Center, and as National Board Chairman of African Bible College University. He holds several certificates in trauma healing and social work.

We are honored and excited to welcome him to St. Philip. He will be accompanied by The Rev’d Ernestein Flemister, Missioner for Racial Reconciliation for the Episcopal Church in Western Oregon, who will preside and celebrate Holy Eucharist.
