St. Philip and the Leaven Community Land and Housing Coalition
EIGHTY Leaven Community Land and Housing Coalition members and supporters showed up at the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability’s public hearing on zoning code amendments on February 9th. We gathered in the building lobby, sang, had 1 to 1’s, and prayed. Coalition members from Ainsworth UCC, First Immanuel Lutheran, Leaven Community/Salt & Light Lutheran, Portsmouth Union, St Philip the Deacon Episcopal and Warner Pacific University gave powerful public testimonies, rooted in their stories, to the commissioners.
The Commission’s Next Step
The commissioners were moved by the testimony and will have a one-hour work session on March 10th to review and forward their amendments to the city council.
Coalition Next Step
Come to the next coalition cohort gathering with your housing core team members to plan the next steps in our action for zoning code changes.
